QT Fusion Dance: Bachata Night for Diana Chang

Your beloved Ace & Ciara will be teaching again - come early at 5:30 if you're interested in merengue, OR come at 6pm for your usual 90 minutes of bachata lessons!

We will be fundraising during the event for QT Fusion Dance co-founder Diana Chang, a QPOC domestic violence survivor who is currently incarcerated - contributions will be greatly appreciated and are 100% optional and pressure free. Diana's lawyer Maneka Sinha and friends will be there to say a few words on Diana's behalf, and Diana will hopefully be calling into the event to speak to us! More details to come.
5:30-6:00: MERENGUE Class (Partnered work) (30 min)
6:00-6:30: Beginner BACHATA Lesson (30 min)
6:30-7:30: Intermediate BACHATA Lesson (60 min)
7:30-10:00: DJed Open Dance & Social (may go later)
Open Dance Music: Bachata, Bachata Fusion, Merengue
Lessons: $10; only $5 if you RSVP as "Going" by the midnight before; Cash or Venmo @LuellaG
Dance / Social Only: No cover
(Donations for Diana will be collected separately during event.)

Gay bar a couple blocks from McPherson Sq metro (orange line), also close to Mt. Vernon stop (yellow/green). It’s located down an alleyway (Green Ct) and around the corner. Look up for the green and rainbow sign! Nearby bus stops: 52, 54, 63, 64, etc.

Ace grew up in Puerto Rico and Brooklyn, where they started learning hip hop, salsa, and bachata over a decade ago. They have performed with the Island Touch Dance Academy and are certified as a bachata instructor by the world renowned Alex & Desiree. In their eyes everyone is an amazing dancer and every dance is what you make of it. ~~~ Ciara has been dancing and performing since childhood, with dance being an important aspect of her family life. In high school she founded a dance team centering students of color. Her dance training includes modern, ballet, African, hip hop, house, and bachata.
Safe Space Policy
-We support consent culture! Always get consent (verbally or nonverbally) before beginning a partnered dance. If you don't feel like partner dancing at all, you are still welcome to come hang out, solo dance, and/or watch.
-Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, hate speech, etc. are not welcome.
-This event centers LGBTQ+ people. Allies are welcome.
